(From the First DuBois Fire Dept. Website)
On or about July 11, 1910, notification was received from the Clearfield County Court setting apart Fifth Ward as a separate division of the City of DuBois. At a largely attended meeting of the residents of Fifth Ward held on July 14, 1910, discussion centered upon the fact that with Friendship Hose Company locating in new quarters, Fifth Ward residents would be left without ample fire protection. On August 7, 1910, application was made to the DuBois Fire Department for membership.
The first piece of equipment received was a four wheeled hose cart which was housed in the basement of Hand's Store at the corner of South Main Street and Forest Avenue. A large bell was erected on the rear of the building and was used for sounding the fire alarm. The hose cart carried 400 to 500 feet of hose and required at least ten men to move because of its weight.
The hose company was later moved to a new location. A standard residence on the corner of Spring Avenue and State Street was converted into a hose house to keep equipment and hold meetings. At that time, the hose company received a "streamlined" two-wheeled hose cart. During this period, the City of DuBois had a streetcar system in place throughout town, and after a fire, many of the men were quite tired. So they would hook the cart to the dogcatcher at the rear of the streetcar and have it hauled back to the hose company garage. A bell on the streetcar would sound throughout this trip and with the hose cart attached to the back, the company soon received the nickname "Bingville." The name is still in use and many men have been proud to be called one of the "Bingville Boys."
Late in 1919, many insurance companies informed the city that insurance rates would rise significantly unless the city upgraded its fire equipment and alarm system. In December 1920 Goodwill placed a new White Chemical truck into service. This was the first motorized truck for the company.
Construction of a new building began in November of 1921. Work continued throughout the winter and the building was completed in the spring of 1922. The building was furnished and the formal opening was on May 4, 1922. Through the years, the building has remained as originally constructed with the exception that the basement has been finished to house a social room for the members. Normal maintenance has kept the structure in serviceable condition to the present.

On December 23, 1940, the DuBois City Council authorized the fire department to purchase a new Pumper for Goodwill Hose Company. The department accepted a bid by Mack for a triple combination Pumper which was received in early September 1941. The truck was accepted and placed into service on October 3, 1941.
With the 1941 Mack showing its age, DuBois City Council opened bids for a new apparatus on November 24, 1969. Upon the recommendation of Chief Ed Toney, a bid from Brumbaugh Body Company was accepted. A new, 1971 International 1000gpm Pumper arrived on March 9, 1971. The truck was placed into service on April 2, 1971.
Today, the members of Goodwill Hose Company operate a 1996 Sutphen Custom Pumper. This engine has a 6-man enclosed cab and a 1500 gpm pump capacity.
In 2006, ENGINE75.COM was launched with much success.
